Day 1 - 445 lbs

Hello everyone, My name is Brandon. I am 29 years old, 6'4" tall and I weigh 445 lbs as of this morning being the heaviest I have ever been to date, it is my hope that it will be the heaviest I will ever be. I have tried many things to get my weight under control with small successes, but I have never stuck with it. I am hoping that with this level of transparency and honesty I will be able to find greater success.

Among the various diets I have tried are Weight Watchers, South Beach, MD Diet, and the McDougal Diet. All of these diets emphasize eating healthy foods in moderation with exercise. I will attempt in my journey to use my favorite recipes and prepared meals from all of these diets to lend variety to my diet in order to keep me from being bored with the diet. I will track my portions using the Weight Watchers PointsPlus values to keep me from over-eating.

To be honest, I am a bit nervous about putting my weight loss out there for everyone to see. I am usually a very private person, and I enjoy that privacy. I welcome your thoughts and prayers on my behalf. If you are on a similar journey, or know of anyone who is, I welcome your comments and invite you to share this blog with others.

  1. Way to go! Love you! Mom and I are doing South Beach again (though we haven't gone shopping so it's mainly been leftovers from the garden and the freezer).

  3. Brandon, I applaud you. And you totally have my support. Have you ever heard of Paleo? It's a lifestyle...not a diet. It's also a mind-shift rather than just a food-shift. I've seen a lot of success in my own life by doing it. It doesn't cost anything, because it's an idea...not a diet made to get money. Anyway, however you do it, I support you and understand how hard it is.

  4. I would really like to put together a list of possible breakfast, lunch, and dinners that you can combine to make the points total. Of course lean meat/protein is less points. That is what Darin does. He has certain options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and we could add snacks. Then he just chooses from the list depending on what he feels like having.
